After an uneventful overnight flight from Newark for me and a morning flight from Rome for Charlotte, we met up in Porto, Portugal, today! We visited the Pilgrim’s Office near the Porto Cathedral where we picked up our pilgrim credentials and scallop shells. The credential is essential for documenting the journey, and the scallop shell is the traditional means of identifying pilgrims on the Camino. The pictured guidepost is the first of many that will direct us on our journey. After checking into our hostel (oh boy, I snagged a top bunk), we enjoyed a light meal and some walking around the beautiful city of Porto. We will begin our pilgrimage tomorrow from Matosinhos. just north of here.
How exciting!!
